Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MESs) collect real-time data from shop floor equipment and operators and report on plant activities as they occur.
MES technology lets a shift or plant manager see what is happening right now and gives answers to questions like: which machines are idle, who is waiting for materials, when will that job finish, what is the current yield?
The wealth of data collected by MES allows managers to deliver:
- Better Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
- Improved yield through reduced defects and scrap
- More accurate scheduling and delivery forecasting
- Efficient (and minimally intrusive) scheduled maintenance
Mattec
Solarsoft subsidiary Mattec is the world's leading supplier of real-time production and process monitoring MES for selected industries, including plastics injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, blown film, metal stamping, die casting, printing, painting, and assembly.
Mattec’s ProHelp® EPM suite consists of three key components that may be used stand alone or, for maximum benefit, integrated with a manufacturing ERP systems from Solarsoft or any third party vendor.

Dashboards
Real-time production data is presented in a set of management “dashboards” that give clear, graphic information about the status of production from plant level down to individual machines. Learn More >>
Statistical Process Control
Building on the volume of high quality real-time data collected for the management dashboards, process control analysis is provided by the Statistical Process Control module. Learn More >>
Machine Interface Units (MIU)
The Machine Interface Units (MIUs) collect real-time activity data from sensors attached to plant and equipment and may, optionally, have an operator console – typically a touch screen display. Learn More >>
The Mattec MES Server stores information received from the MIUs and supports the exchange of product, production schedule and events data with the core ERP application. Built on Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server, the platform is cost effective, scalable and easily integrated with other systems.
2-way integration with Solarsoft and third party ERP systems is based on a simple set of “events” defined as part of the Solarsoft Open Services Architecture. These specify the product, resource and production schedule data that passes from the ERP to the MES together with the status and forecast information that passes back from MES to ERP.
A comprehensive package of integration, support and maintenance services is available from Mattec to ensure rapid setup and effective deployment.
